Abstract Objective To investigate the influences of diseases severity on ICU bedside fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Methods The patients were chosen from the third ICU ward of Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University receiving invasive mechanical ventilation and bedside fiberoptic bronchoscopy simultaneously from March 2012 to December 2014. APACHEⅡ score was correlated with timeto target sedation, time of bedside fiberoptic bronchoscopy, bronchoscopists′ satisfaction score and occurrence of adverse reactions respectively. Results A total of 148 patients were contained in the study. There was a negative correlation between APACHEⅡ score and time to target sedation and bronchoscopists′s atisfaction score(correlation coefficients were r=-0.370 and r=-0.259, respectively); there was a positive correlation between APACHEⅡ score and time of fiberoptic bronchoscopy and occurrence of adverse reactions(correlation coefficients were r=0.338 and r=0.582, respectively). Conclusion Severity of disease has adverse influences on ICU bedside fiberoptic bronchoscopy, which should be paid more attention by bronchoscopists.
