Research progress of diagnostic value of bedside lung ultrasound in pneumothorax |

Abstract As the most common complication of chest trauma, pneumothorax is a great threat to acute and critical illness patients. However, pneumothorax is easily overlooked in multiple trauma or chronic lung disease. Therefore, accurate diagnosis of pneumothorax is very important for first-line rescue. In recent years, as a rising technology, lung ultrasound has become a bedside monitoring equipment with following advantages: immediacy, bedside repeatability, non-invasive, and has been accepted by more clinicians. Many evidences show that the diagnostic value of pneumothorax is better than chest radiograph, and highly consistent with CT. This article reviews the methods and value of pneumothorax with lung ultrasound.
