Effect and mechanism of Rosuvastatin on the immunity index in patients with septic shock |

Abstract Objective To investigate the influence and mechanism of Rosuvastatin on the immune function in patients with septic shock. Methods In this double-blinded,randomized controlled,parallel-group trial,66 patients with septic shock from May 2011 to July 2012 were divided into two groups: intervention group and control group. Intervention group including 24 males and 14 females with an average age of(51.76±16.48,range: 21~80). Control group including 12 males and 16 females with an average age of(52.86±14.56,range: 38~78). Control group accepted routine medical therapy,while intervention
group was treated with Rosuvastatin and routine medical therapy. The immune index before and after
therapy on the 4th and 7th day,including the continue change of percentage of lymphocyte,CD4,CD8,CD4/CD8 and HLA-DR. The APACHEⅡ scores were evaluated on the first day and 7 days after therapy.
Results There were no significantly differences of age,gender,primary disease and the scores of
APACHEⅡ between two groups. After the treatment of 4th and 7th day,percentage of lympho⁃cyte CD4,
CD8,CD4/CD8 and HLA-DR were changed in both groups. The immune index of interven⁃tion group
improved more apparent. Compared to admission,the APACHE Ⅱ scores of two groups,which were
evaluated 7 days after therapy,were decreased,while the therapy group decreased apparently.
Conclusion Rosuvastatin would improve the immune function of patients with septic shock and its
clinic efficacy is worth further observing.
