Abstract Brain injury can be divided into primary and secondary brain injury. Body and soul trauma brought by sequelae of secondary brain injury is one of the important reasons of the China's cur⁃ rent high health burden. This article is present the progress of mechanical ventilation with brain injury. Mechanical ventilation is a double-edged sword, which can save people's life but also can bring some complications, such as lung injury, brain injury. It can treat patients with severe brain damage when me⁃ chanical ventilation is appropriately used, especially in patients with respiratory center impaired. However, the inappropriate use of mechanical ventilation will aggravate original brain injury or cause brain injury to the patients who had no brain injury before. Best mode and setting for mechanical ventilation to the op⁃ timal brain protection policy is a hot topic currently.
